How To Select The Best Storage For Your Parts and Tools?

If you are a DIY enthusiast, like to play around with mechanics in your car, enjoy gardening when you have some free time, or just live in a house that eventually needs maintenance from time to time; you have quite a number of tools, equipment, or even parts in your garage or shed.

Depending on how “hand-on” you are, the gear you have might be worth thousands of dollars. Obviously you want to keep them well stored, protected from dust, weather elements, theft and also in an organized way, so it is easy for you to find what you want, when you want.

Let’s have a look at storage options available in the Australian market these days. Let’s cover from small screws and nuts to large chainsaw and hammer drills. There is an option for everyone.

For Small Parts & Components

If you have lots of nuts, bolts, screws, drill bits and other small parts, you need a large number of small compartments, so you can store them properly and keep them organized. Wall mount bins are a great option!

This option is designed to hold small and light in weight parts, so they can be mounted on the wall. It is a great way to save space and keep hundreds, if not thousand small parts organized. Good brands offer labels, so you can easily identify what it is in each drawer. The drawers can also come in different colors and sizes, so you can keep different types of parts.

This option is not suitable for medium parts, or tools, as the drawers (even the large ones) cannot hold heavy weights. So this option is good for light and small parts and components only.

For Medium Size Tools

Moving from small parts, you also need to keep tools in a proper manner. These tools can be hammer drills, grinders, wrenches, and even compact welding machines. Our recommendation for those tools is a toolbox trolley. This product comes in different sizes, so they can keep from medium size tools, to large ones.

Toolbox trolley is a robust cabinet that comes with different sizes of drawers. They are heavy duty storage solutions and can hold heavy items. Some drawers are quite large and can hold larger tools, some others are small. Plan ahead and choose one model that will suit your tools.

One advantage of toolbox trolleys is that, even though it is heavy, it comes with wheels, so you can easily move it around the warehouse, workshop or garage. Another great feature is the lockable drawers, so you can keep them safe and sound.

For Large Tools and Equipment

If you have large equipment such as lawnmower, augers & hole diggers, air compressors, benches, etc. You need plenty of space to keep them. Some people store them in the garage, but it might be difficult to juggle between tools, equipment and cars in the same space. For those who have a significant number of tools the garage is just not enough.

When it happens, the best thing you can do is to get a dedicated space for your gear, and a workshop shed works great! These can be expensive and take some time to be put together. You can either assemble it yourself, or get a professional installation.

If you have a significant number of expensive large equipment, we believe it is worth the investment. You should not go cheap and buy a flimsy shed, as living in Australia the shed must be suitable for tough weather conditions.
