TV Wall Mount Installation. How You Should Do It.

It’s hard to beat the feeling of a new tech to your home. Especially if you are replacing an old TV, even better if you decide to not only replace the TV, but instead of placing it on the top of a piece of furniture, you decide to have it installed in your bedroom or living room wall. If you are a handy person who loves to use your tools and get things done; great! If not, you might be hesitant to do it yourself. However, this article will inform you that it is not that difficult. The chances are, you can easily do it.

First things first, here is a list of what you need:

  • Drill Bit
  • Drill
  • Pencil
  • Ratchet spanner
  • Shifting spanner
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Stud finder
  • Mounting bracket
  • Tape measure
  • Television
  • 1200mm level

Find the right spots to drill

So your wall can withstand the weight of a TV, you need to mount it off studs within the wall. Using an electronic stud finder, you can easily perform this task. However, if you don’t have one, you can knock on the wall to find out where the studs are; when you tap, the sound will change with you tapping over the stud. Mark the location with a pencil.

Align the wall mount bracket

Get the TV Wall Mount you have chosen to your TV. When doing so, use the 1200mm level to make sure it is parallel with the ceiling and floor. It’s a good idea to have someone else to help you to find the right position to install the wall mount. Once the mount is in the position you want, mark up the spots you need to drill the holes that will support the mount onto the studs.

Drill the holes

After lining up the wall mount and marking all the positions you need to drill. It is time to do it. Fix the bolts into the wall, but do not tighten them up yet, leave them slightly loose to make sure the holes were drilled in the correct position.

Place the hanging brackets to the wall

After drilling the holes and screwing down the mount to the wall, it’s time to put the hanging brackets in position by attaching them to the back of the TV. Some TVs have the holes covered by plastic caps; if so, remove them before screwing the brackets to the TV.

Mount the TV to the wall

Now all the hard work has been done, all you have to do is carefully hang the TV to the wall, by using the brackets on the mount on the wall. This might sound like a simple task, and it is, but we strongly recommend you use help of a friend to do it. TVs are very heavy and very easy to break.

You just want to get the mount installed

I understand if you really do not want to do it yourself. Even though it is not too difficult, you need to have someone to help you and the correct tools for the job. Sometimes is just not possible and you prefer to have a professional doing it for you. Unfortunately, TecnoTools does not offer installation services.
